What do we do?

Music for Canberra is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing inclusive, high-quality musical experiences for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds in the ACT and surrounding areas.

We believe in the power of music to build community, foster friendships, and enhance cognitive function, and we’re passionate about making these benefits accessible to everyone.

At Music for Canberra, we offer a wide range of programs designed to inspire and engage:

🎵 Orchestras

🎵 Choirs

🎵 Guitar Ensemble

🎵 Ukulele Group Lessons

🎵 Music Play (for children as young as 18 months)

🎵 Drum Circle for Joy

🎵 Instant Family Band

🎵 Mixed Abilities Program (MAP), providing music-making opportunities for people living with disabilities

With a history rooted in the legacy of two long-standing arts organisations—Music for Everyone and Canberra Youth Music—Music for Canberra has over 80 years of combined experience. We offer the largest program of instrumental, ensemble, and orchestral tuition in the region, including the prestigious Canberra Youth Orchestra.

Our classes are held at the Ainslie Arts Centre, providing a welcoming space where students of all skill levels can develop their musical talents, gain confidence, and enjoy the many rewards of music.

Whether your child is a budding musician or simply wants to try something new, we’re here to nurture their love of music in a fun and supportive environment.
