Sydney Academy Of Fencing

The Academy’s facilities are named in honor of Sholto Douglas, a former Academy foilist and one of Australia's greatest fencers.

We’re located in Sydney at 190 Bourke Rd, Building 2, Alexandria, just a short walk from Mascot and Greensquare train stations.

The Academy is only 10 minutes from Sydney Airport and 10 minutes from the city center.

Our center features 16 fencing pistes, a locker-equipped changing area, two bathrooms with showers, fitness spaces, and a dedicated parafencing area.

Our Story, Our Legacy

We’ve chosen to name our fencing center after Sholto Douglas in recognition of his exceptional achievements and invaluable contributions to our Academy.

Sholto, now an AI researcher at Google in San Francisco, is a key part of our legacy, and his ongoing support is a testament to the circle of life.

As a foilist at the Academy, Sholto has cemented his place as one of Australia's top fencers.

His impressive career includes gold (team) and silver at the senior Commonwealth Games, silver at the U23 Asian Championships, bronze (team) and a top-8 finish at the senior Asian Championships, and bronze (team) at the World Universiade. He also reached the top 16 in a senior World Cup and was a two-time Australian Senior Champion.
