What do we do?
OUR CLASSES
We offer classes for all ages and levels, from beginner level to advanced level. Our schedule is designed to accommodate busy lifestyles, with classes offered during the day and in the evening.
All the classes are inclusive of the registration fees and the music licensing fees used in the year.
ABOUT US
Sakshi Kumar is a creative director & founder of ‘Sanskriti-A School of Indian Performing Arts’ in Sydney Australia. She completed her schooling from Convent of Jesus & Mary, New Delhi, India and is a Mathematics graduate from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi.
She is a trained Kathak dancer trained under the tutelage of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj(s/o Pt. Birju Maharaj) from the leading institute of Kathak- Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. She started learning Kathak when she was eight.She is a topper of Kathak Kendra,2012 and a graded artist of Doordarshan.
She has also worked worked with Embassy of India, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan as a Cultural Ambassador of India to Kyrgyzstan through ICCR. She has performed extensively in India and abroad.Furthermore,she has completed her Arengettam in Kathakali under Guru Sh. Jagadeesan Nair Thiruvattar from The International Centre for Kathakali, New Delhi in 2018.
Dance in the family
Sakshi is married to Suresh Kumar-a young and energetic Mayurbhanj Chhau exponent and choreographer who took his training from Guru J.J. Sai Babu. He is also trained in Kathakali from Guru Sh. Jagadeesan Nair Thiruvattar at The International Centre of Kathakali, New Delhi and furthermore he is also trained in contemporary style of dancing. He has performed extensively in India and abroad.
As a teacher
Sakshi is loved by her students and you can read what the parents and students say in the testimonials section.
During her tenure in Kyrgyzstan, Sakshi taught in various dance schools of Bishkek and had over a 100 students in Kyrgyzstan learning their language- Russian. Sakshi was immensely loved by the Kyrgyz people and she left no stone unturned to make Indian culture reach the hearts of people. Her students performed in various events of Embassy of India and other cultural events of the country.
