What do we do?
🌟 Welcome to Kumiai Ryu Martial Arts Newcastle
For over 20 years, Kumiai Ryu Martial Arts System (KRMAS) has been part of the Greater Newcastle community, and now we’re proud to welcome families into our brand-new full-time dojo! Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, our programs are designed to help kids, teens, and adults reach their potential through health, fitness, confidence, and self-defence awareness.
👶 Pre-School Martial Arts
Our youngest students enjoy fun, engaging classes that build coordination, respect, and confidence. With age-appropriate activities, children learn valuable life skills while staying active and safe.
👦 Kids & Teens Martial Arts
From primary school to high school, kids and teens train in KR Karate and KR Muay Thai. Classes focus on discipline, focus, and resilience, while teaching practical self-defence skills. Students gain confidence, improve fitness, and learn how to handle challenges like bullying in a supportive environment.
🥋 Adult Martial Arts
Adults of all ages benefit from our dynamic programs, combining fitness, strength, and self-defence. Whether you’re looking to improve health, learn practical skills, or challenge yourself, our classes provide a safe and motivating space to grow.
🏅 About Our Instructor
Shidoin Alysia Blundell leads the Newcastle dojo with passion and expertise. A 3rd Dan Black Belt in KR Karate and Red Badge in KR Muay Thai, she is also a government-accredited martial arts coach with qualifications in fitness and Pilates. Training since 2002, she brings decades of experience to every class.

Accepts NSW Active Kids Vouchers
Available for Parties
- We offer Kids Martial Arts Parties.
Parties are held on a Saturday afternoon for 90 mins.
We will provide you with invitations for maximum 14 kids (including the birthday child), 2 accredited Instructors, party room set up + decorations and a special gift for your child.
All you need to do is bring the food, cake, kids and we'll do the rest!
Cost is $275 with option to pay a deposit of $50 to secure your preferred date (full cost must be paid before the party date).
