Overview
- HOME EDUCATION ART PROGRAM | TERM 4, 2026
Creative art classes for home-educated children and teens
Create. Explore. Learn. Connect.
These weekly art classes provide home-educated children with dedicated time and space to develop their artistic skills, explore different materials and techniques, and create alongside other children.
Held in my garden studio in Matraville, these small-group classes combine specialist art instruction with plenty of room for individual expression.
The focus is on developing an ongoing art practice rather than simply completing a finished artwork.
Children are encouraged to experiment, make choices, problem-solve and develop confidence in their own creative ideas.

π« Creative Problem-Solving
Children are encouraged to experiment, adjust their ideas and find their own solutions rather than looking for one βcorrectβ way to make art.
πΏ WHY AN EXTERNAL ART CLASS?
For home educated children, a regular class provides something different from the home learning environment.
It creates an opportunity to:
π Create alongside other children
π Learn from a practising artist and specialist art teacher
π Build skills progressively over time
π Work with materials and techniques that may not be part of everyday home learning
π Develop independence and confidence in creative decision-making
π Share ideas and experiences with a small creative community
π Have dedicated time for making, experimenting and exploring
The benefit of an ongoing class is that children have time to revisit ideas, build on previous learning and gradually develop their own creative language.
Rather than having to plan and facilitate every aspect of art education at home, parents can provide their children with access to a dedicated art educator and practising artist while remaining free to enjoy the experience of seeing their child's creativity develop.
π©βπ¨ YOUR ART EDUCATOR
Classes are led by Janice Eliovson, a practising abstract and intuitive artist and Early Childhood Educator.
Janice teaches children through a process-led approach that values experimentation, curiosity and individual expression.
She has taught hundreds of children through weekly art classes and school holiday art programmes from her garden studio.
Her Kidsbook profile currently has a 5-star rating from more than 100 ratings, providing feedback from parents and participants who have attended her programmes.
A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) is held.

π¨ SCHOOL HOLIDAY ART WORKSHOPS
Janice Eliovson Art also offers full-day art workshops during the NSW school holidays.
These immersive days give children the opportunity to spend extended time creating, experimenting and working across multiple projects.
The emphasis remains on the creative process, exploration and enjoyment, with children encouraged to develop their own ideas and problem-solve along the way.
School holiday workshops are listed separately on Kidsbook as dates are released.
π¨βπ©βπ§ ART FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Art can also become something that families enjoy together.
Parent & Child Art Classes provide a guided creative experience where parents and children make their own artworks side by side in the garden studio.
These can be booked as a one-off experience or as an ongoing series, with all materials provided and no previous art experience required.
For parents who would like some creative time of their own, Creative Pause Workshops offer a separate opportunity to slow down, make art and nurture their own creative practice.
πΏ A REGULAR CREATIVE SPACE
For home-educated families, art doesn't need to be another task to fit into the week.
It can be a time to step away from the usual learning environment, work with your hands, meet other children, learn new skills and simply enjoy making.
Whether you commit to the full 8 week programme or join casually when your schedule allows, the aim is to provide a welcoming, well-supported space where children can explore, learn and grow through art.
Book your place through Kidsbook, or contact Janice Eliovson Art directly if you are interested in joining with a homeschooling group or creating a dedicated class.
