At Yaya's Music, we believe music is a gift meant to be shared. Our child-centred piano studio provides a warm and welcoming environment where children can explore music with joy and curiosity while building confidence at the piano.

🎵 OUR PIANO PROGRAMS

👶 Junior Piano (Ages 3.5–4.5)

Junior Piano introduces young children to music through engaging, interactive 45-minute group lessons. Students explore musical expression through songs, develop piano technique through Finger Zips, learn solo repertoire pieces, experience ensemble playing, and build their understanding of music through flash cards, backing tracks, singing activities, movement and rhythm exercises using percussion instruments.

🎼 Primary Piano (Ages 6–12)

Primary Piano develops strong musical foundations through structured group lessons combining practical piano skills with comprehensive musicianship. Students develop piano technique and repertoire skills while building experience through ensemble playing and performance activities. The program also introduces music reading, theory, aural training, playing by ear, transposing activities and early hands-together piano playing.

Through both programs, students develop confidence and creativity at the piano while building music reading and theory knowledge, aural skills through singing and listening activities, rhythm, timing, coordination and musical expression. Students also develop teamwork skills through ensemble playing and gain a well-rounded understanding of musicianship.

🎹 What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

Each lesson is carefully structured to keep students engaged while developing a wide range of musical skills. Classes include learning and performing songs, piano technique and repertoire practice, ensemble activities, interactive music theory using flash cards, backing tracks, singing, rhythm exercises and movement-based music activities.

💡 Our Teaching Approach

Yaya's Music combines classical piano foundations with a modern approach to learning. Students develop traditional music reading, notation and music theory skills while also enjoying interactive learning experiences through note games, challenges and quizzes. The studio uses a multi-sensory learning approach to support different learning styles and help students stay motivated throughout their musical journey.

🌱 Personal Development & Leadership

Yaya's Music supports students' personal growth alongside their musical development. As students progress, they may have the opportunity to participate in the Piano Leadership Program, gaining experience and insights into teaching, leadership and mentorship.

Students are provided with opportunities to share their music through performances held throughout the year. These experiences help students build confidence, celebrate their progress and develop the skills needed to perform in supportive, real-world settings.
