Since 2001, Tugra Shan Martial Arts has been empowering adults, kids, and families with practical self-defence skills and the virtues of martial arts. Our classes are fun, safe, and designed to build confidence, discipline, and resilience in every student.

🧒 Kids Martial Arts Classes

Children learn how to protect and defend themselves in realistic situations while having fun and staying active. Our kids’ program includes:

We run three kids’ classes per week (during school terms) for ages 4 and up, suitable for beginners through to advanced students

Founded in Adelaide by Kancho John Alford, Tugra Shan Martial Arts blends traditional martial arts with modern, progressive techniques for effective self-defence.

- Kancho John Alford – With over 40 years of martial arts experience, John holds six black belts across Karate, Jujitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Eskrima Stick Fighting. He created Tugra Shan Martial Arts to reflect contemporary fighting methods and realistic self-defence.

- Sensei Scott Kelley – Assistant master teacher supporting every class with expert guidance.

💪 Our Style

Tugra Shan Martial Arts combines techniques from multiple disciplines, teaching stances, throws, blocks, takedowns, and disarms. Students learn how to neutralise threats quickly and effectively, whether facing single or multiple attackers.
