🎨 The Hand Crafted Studio – A Creative Space for All

👧Kids Pottery Classes

Children aged 8–16 years can explore the joy of working with clay in our pottery classes. Designed to build confidence and creativity, kids learn hand-building techniques and even get the chance to try the potter’s wheel. Every class is hands-on, fun, and encourages children to express themselves through art. Classes run on Monday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

🌱 Pottery for Beginners

Have you hesitated to start pottery because everyone else seems experienced? Our Pottery for Beginners classes are perfect for newcomers. Tanya Boyd, our founder and instructor, will guide you step by step, helping you set your own goals and achieve them. Classes begin at the start of each school term and run for 7–10 weeks, with sessions available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, Wednesday afternoons, and Friday mornings. You’ll learn hand-building and wheel throwing, creating pieces that bring joy and pride when you take them home.

🌿 About Tanya

Founder Tanya Boyd has been working with clay for over 10 years and teaching for most of that time. Inspired by nature and the Victorian High Country, Tanya’s ceramic practice blends beauty with usefulness. With a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Ceramic Design, she has exhibited nationally and internationally, and her work has been recognised with awards such as the Clayworks Prize. Tanya’s passion for teaching began at community centres, where she worked with adults, children, and people with special needs. In 2019, she opened The Hand Crafted Studio in Mordialloc, creating a welcoming space for learning and creativity.

🏺 Studio & Workshops

The studio offers classes in hand-building and wheel throwing, with occasional workshops in niche creative practices. Tanya ensures a safe, encouraging environment where students of all abilities can learn, experiment, and share knowledge.
