At SYO, our mission is to inspire and ignite our young musicians through a transformational environment that focuses on creating an engaging and exciting environment, allowing our musicians to explore their orchestral journey and grow their musical career.

At SYO we build pathways for musicians to CONNECT, CREATE, and CHAMPION orchestral music.

We help shape the type of musician YOU want to become. Through our variety of orchestras, ranging from string ensembles to wind and symphonic orchestras, our weekly training rehearsals at Ultimo TAFE campus, Santa Sabina College Strathfield and St Joachims Lidcombe, we strive for our musicians to use their time and experience within the orchestra to continue to grow their skills, repertoire and friendships into professional pathways. Some of our many orchestras include:

Prep: Catering to our youngest musicians, working from beginner to AMEB Grade 2, starting their musical journey, no audition is required!

Strings: Our range of stringed orchestras caters to students with AMEB Grade 2-4 playing viola, violin, cello and double bass and supports students growing their repertoire, open to all orchestral string players through an audition.

Symphonic Wind: Open for woodwind, brass and percussion musicians aged 14+ with an AMEB Grade 6, opening musicians with orchestral experience.

Western Sydney Youth Orchestra: Open to AMEB 5 Strings, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion musicians located in Western Sydney, with weekly rehearsals held in Lidcombe.

Along with our weekly rehearsals, our Summer and Winter holiday programs, tours, and performance opportunities, SYO allows our musicians to creatively strive and grow their musical capabilities.
