DANCE CLASSES FOR ALL AGES

Find your feet at Susan Shiner Dance Academy! We offer friendly, family-oriented dance classes for children of all ages, from preschool upwards. With over 45 years of experience, we can help you develop a strong dance foundation in a happy, fun-filled environment.

Our modern, purpose-built facilities provide an open environment with ample room to practise your moves. They also enable our staff to work freely ensuring you gain the most from each lesson. We also run Yoga and adult fitness classes which are an enjoyable, alternative way to exercise and keep fit. All students are included in our annual production Cavalcade of Dance at the Civic Theatre Newcastle. Costumes are available for hire from the studio.

EXPERIENCED & FRIENDLY DANCE STAFF

Susan Shiner Dance Academy began operating 47 years ago in temporary premises, but the Academy is now based in West Wallsend near Newcastle and has three purpose built studios with full length mirrors and wall mounted barres.

While our location has changed over the years, our purpose has remained the same. We cherish every student as an individual and foster their learning to build esteem, confidence and personal growth. Susan Shiner Dance Academy participates in the Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet Examinations. However, students who prefer to dance for fun and exercise are equally welcome. Our students enjoy a range of classes and all are included in our annual Cavalcade of Dance production.

CLASSES

★ ROYAL ACADEMY DANCE CLASSICAL BALLET: Our classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus which enables students to participate in examinations, should they opt to do so.

★ BUBS AND BEATS: This class is a parent participation class that introduces little ones to dance and music. It is an expressive way to encourage gross motor skills, imagination through movement and song.

★ TAP: We follow the Pullars Dancing Academy Unique Tap syllabus with stages from Pre-Primary to Tap 10. Students can opt to sit examinations. Tap dancing is an enjoyable and energetic style of dance.

★ JAZZ: Is a fast, free-form style of dance based on the rhythm of the music. Classes are available for all ages from preschool to adult.

★ CRUMP/HIP HOP: Street dancing formally known as funk and break dancing.

★ CHEER: Cheerleading combines components of dance, jumps and tricks teaching flexibility, strength and confidence. Pom poms are supplied by the studio.

★ ACRO: Combines classical ballet technique with fluid movements and tricks such as cartwheels, aerials, back bends and the splits. A physically demanding genre that builds core strength.

★ BOYS ONLY HIP HOP CLASSES: Are taught by a male teacher and classes are a street style of dance for Boys Only. They are considered a fun way to let off steam and include break dance. Available for boys from 5 years.

★ MODERN: Allows the students to express themselves through movement with a focus on technique. It is a form of dance that does not have any set rules that allows dancers to show emotion and mood.
