The Academy's programs have established benchmark standards and value in the officially recognised development pathway for athletes in sport. The Academy works closely with recognised State Sport Agencies, the NSW Institute of Sport and District Associations to ensure its programs are fully endorsed and provide an integrated pathway for talented athlete development.

The Academy's programs provide significant "added value' to an athletes personal development through application of high level coaching resources, educational and technical development components, personal development and a variety of competition opportunities.

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport was formed in 1997 and was operated by the Department of Sport and Recreation, based in Liverpool, until we became an autonomous organisation in 2002, with the Administration Centre moving to the Gym Centre at UWS Campbelltown.

To provide high quality, community focused, talented athlete and coach identification and development programs, which assist athletes and coaches to successfully realise their sporting potential.

SPORT PROGRAMS

★ Basketball Development Program

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport implements high performance programs for talented young athletes from South West Sydney across a number of sports. The Academy is implementing it's Basketball program in association with the local associations provided by high performance coaching staff.

★ BMX Program

Our BMX squad is like no other, albeit an individual sport, athletes gain significant growth, skill development, advanced coaching, strength and conditioning and athlete sports education to name a few whilst in the academy program.

★ Golf Program

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) implements high performance programs for Talent Identified Athletes from South Western Sydney across a number of sports. The Academy implements a golf program in association with Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation.

★ Hockey Program

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) implements high performance programs for talent identified athletes from South Western Sydney across a number of sports. The focus of our Hockey program is on high standards of individual performance and excellence based on a solid platform of skill development, sports science strength and conditioning, athlete sports education and development competition.

★ Indigenous Athlete Program

The Academy Indigenous Athlete Program (IAP) aims to provide increased and specific cultural and education opportunities for Indigenous athletes within the South West Sydney Academy of Sport athlete development programs.

★ Netball and Umpires Program

In partnership with Netball NSW the program provides opportunities for pre-elite netballers in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.

★ Mens Netball Program

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) and Mens Netball NSW (MNNSW) program will cater for male athletes who are turning 12 - 16 years old in 2021. Successful Athletes will be a part of a Development program with the focus to develop individual skills and court craft in the game of netball.

★ Volleyball Program

The South West Sydney Academy of Sport implements high performance programs for talented young athletes from South West Sydney across a number of sports. The Academy is implementing it's Volleyball program in association with Volleyball NSW and provided by high performance coaching staff.

★ Wests Future Star Scholarship Program

The Wests Future Star program provides sports education and financial support to local athletes, and works in close partnership with an athlete's individual coach in sports where the Academy does not currently provide a squad program.

Accepts NSW Active Kids Vouchers
