Since 1978, Shinbukan has empowered students through a Japanese martial arts learning environment (the Dojo). The Dojo is an ego-free, collective learning environment where one is tested to overcome their greatest obstacle; disciplining the self.

A process of discipline to mastery to uncovering the true self

There is no doubt kids are active and selectively curious. Our kids karate classes facilitates their journey for focus, foundational mobility, self defence and subsequent confidence.

Karate allows kids to realise the answers and the methods to questions and challenges are often within themself. This gives them some independence, some free thinking and most importantly resilience; a skill they can carry with them throughout school and beyond.

NINJUTSU

Ninjutsu is a traditional Mixed Martial Art (MMA) from Japan. We incorporate our Karate with elements of Judo, Japanese Jujitsu, Aikido and Kobudo (weapons) to strive for a holistic martial artist.

○ Conditioning

Become fitter and mobile! Techniques and combos are meaningless if the body cannot perform. Bullet-proof your body. Knee pain? Back pain? Neck pain? Through our diagnosis, regression and progressive overload we can minimise injury and maximise functional strength and mobility.

○ Striking

Ninjutsu traditionally, is guerilla tactics. For long term sustainability, instead of trading blows for blows we use distance management and timing in our striking. Stancewise, we maintain a lighter, longer stance compared to other striking styles.

○ Throwing/groundwork

We incorporate Judo and Japanese Jujitsu with striking to create a holistic martial artist. Many self-defence situations end up on the ground with no rules. Become confident with punches, submissions and weapons on the ground.
