🥋 Welcome to Samurai Martial Arts Institute

At SMAI, we specialise in teaching Judo—the martial art known as “the gentle way.” Judo is unique because it focuses on full‑contact, freestyle grappling and self‑defence skills, both standing and on the ground. Our philosophy is based on Minimal Necessary Force, teaching students to defend themselves effectively while minimising risk of injury.

👶 Why Judo for Kids

Children learn discipline, respect, and resilience while building fitness and confidence. Judo develops strength of character, leadership skills, and teamwork, all in a safe and supportive environment. Parents love that kids are taught self‑defence without relying on punching or kicking, making it a safer and more responsible choice.

💪 Benefits for Teens & Adults

Older students and adults enjoy improved fitness, mental strength, and practical self‑defence skills. Judo offers opportunities to compete at State, National, and even Olympic level, while also being a lifelong practice that builds confidence and wellbeing.

🌍 A Global Community

Training at SMAI connects you to affiliated Judo schools worldwide, meaning you’re welcome in virtually any city across the globe.

💖 Why Families Love Us

Parents appreciate SMAI’s family‑friendly environment, expert coaching from champions, and focus on values like respect and confidence. Kids thrive in a safe, fun atmosphere, while adults enjoy the fitness, stress relief, and community spirit. Families love that SMAI offers great value and a positive philosophy that extends beyond the dojo into everyday life.
