The Peter Morton Academy of Judo Jujitsu Karate Inc has been teaching practical, non-competitive self-defence skills since 1962. Founded by Soke Peter Morton in Queanbeyan, NSW, the academy is a not-for-profit organisation with branches across Australia. Our focus is on building confidence, discipline, and resilience in children, teens, and adults through martial arts training that emphasises defence, respect, and personal growth.

👧 Classes for All Ages

We welcome students of all ages and abilities, offering:

• Traditional Graded Martial Arts: Structured training with clear progression.

• Modified Non-Graded Martial Arts: Accessible programs for those who prefer a flexible approach.

• Women’s Self-Defence Courses: Practical skills designed to empower and protect.

💪 What Students Learn

Classes are conducted in a supportive, semi-formal environment where students:

• React instinctively and improve coordination, reflexes, and fitness.

• Build self-control, confidence, and self-esteem.

• Learn to use leverage, balance, and momentum to their advantage.

Training draws from Kodokan Judo, Jujitsu, and Kempo Karate, focusing on defensive strategies that evade, disable, and immobilise an attacker.

🌱 Alternative Education in Martial Arts

For students who may be deterred by traditional martial arts due to age, mobility, or injury, our AEiM method provides a safe, inclusive way to participate and benefit from martial arts training.

👨‍🏫 Our Instructors

All instructors are accredited coaches with first aid and sports trainer education. They donate their time freely, ensuring classes remain affordable and community-focused.
