North Entrance SLSC
The Entrance North 2261 NSWJunior Activities Life Saving, which is commonly known as Nippers, is made up of infants, primary and secondary school aged children.
What do we do?
Junior Activities Life Saving, which is commonly known as Nippers, is made up of infants, primary and secondary school aged children. The age groups range from Under 6’s to Under 14’s.
The aim of North Entrance SLSC is to develop and educate Junior Activities Members, where they learn about Surf Awareness and Safety, as required by the Surf Life Saving Australia ‘Surf ED’ program. Our focus is on participation, fun and skills development. We also promote progression and integration into the Senior ranks of the Club.
Our JAC and or Water Safety Officer will speak to all Nippers about beach safety, surf conditions such as rip currents, sandbars and waves, upcoming events and news for parents, so it’s important that everyone is there on time.
Our Rookies learn some basic First Aid and may also learn CPR when they reach the age of 13. We may include our Nippers in learning basic First Aid and Surf Education if the weather conditions are not suitable to run Nippers.
TINY TOTS
At North Entrance SLSC we also have a unique program for our Tiny Tots. During Tiny Tots, infants up to 4 years old learn to have fun at the beach and get a great introduction into beach safety and the beginning of Surf Life Saving. Tiny Tots are too young to join the Club themselves, however they are able to participate if one parent is a member of the Club.
OUR HISTORY
The North Entrance Surf Life Saving Club, the youngest on the Central Coast, was formed in 1978.
Col Laing has played an instrumental role in the development and building of the North Entrance Surf Life Saving Club, right from the beginning and continues to do so today.
The Club is on Tuggerah Beach, an exposed south-east to east-facing beach which runs for 8.2km from Pelican Point to Karagi Point, the sand spit that forms on the north side of the natural entrance to Tuggerah Lake.
This area was a quiet backwater until the road from The Entrance to Norah Head was put through in 1970s.
The beach can be accessed from the north on foot from Soldiers Beach, and via road in the new Wyrrabalong National Park, that provides parking and walkways to the beach.
From the south, street access is provided via The Entrance North residential area, at the North Entrance Surf Club, and from the caravan park and park on Karagi Point.
