Newcastle Aikikai

🥋 Newcastle Aikido

At Newcastle Aikido, we teach the martial arts of Aikido and Iaido, alongside the Zen Buddhist practice of Zazen meditation. Our dojo welcomes beginners and experienced students alike, offering a progressive and mindful approach to training. With classes for both adults and children, we provide a safe, supportive environment where confidence, discipline, and respect flourish.

⭐ Aiki Kids (Ages 7+)

Children are the heart of our dojo. We run kids’ classes six days a week (weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings), focusing on each child’s strengths to build self-confidence and resilience.

• Develop coordination, balance, and flexibility

• Learn self-control, respect, and non-violent conflict resolution

• Build self-esteem, social skills, and awareness

• Age-appropriate groups with patient, experienced instructors

Younger children can even join in with a parent on the mat, making it a family experience.

👨‍🏫 Adult Programs

Adults can train up to five times per day, with classes tailored for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Our black belt instructors bring experience from international competitions, ensuring every class develops solid technique in a safe, enjoyable way.

🏫 School Programs & Holiday Camps

For nearly a decade, we’ve partnered with schools to offer Aikido as a sporting option, with many students continuing at our dojo long after. Our School Holiday Camps combine martial arts with cultural experiences like calligraphy, origami, tea ceremony, sushi-making, and craft—making them fun, educational, and memorable.

💖 Why Families Love Us
