Sefton 2162 NSWWelcome to the wonderful world of music!
What do we do?
We trust that this will be an exciting time for you as you step out on the journey of discovering the joys of learning an instrument.
At Melinda Gindy Music Studio, we specialise in the private tuition of piano, flute and guitar, whilst also offering group music theory lessons to develop the well-rounded musician. We welcome all ages and levels, whether you would like to study music for leisure or be expertly guided through the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) levels.
Melinda Gindy Music Studio aims to provide quality music education in a safe and comfortable environment. Students are supported through a variety of musical skills, whilst learning to also individually express themselves through music. Students are given opportunities to celebrate their musicality and perform at our Recital Nights, MTA Junior Music Festivals, as well as our annual Showcase Concert and Awards Night.
OUR SERVICES
Melinda Gindy Music Studio currently provides expert teaching in four main areas; Piano, Flute, Guitar and Music Theory (Theory, Musicianship and Music Craft). Tutors are familiar with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) syllabi and students regularly complete examinations to a high standard. Beginner students of all ages are also encouraged to learn in a non-threatening, fun environment.
The studio aims to develop the well-rounded musician, ensuring that a student develops in all areas of music learning. Essentially, lessons are offered during school terms, though arrangements can be made for additional out-of-term lessons. Students have the opportunity to perform at the various recital nights, the MTA Junior Music Festival, and at the annual showcase concert and awards evening.
WHO WE ARE
Melinda Gindy Music Studio began in 2001 and was directed by Melinda Gindy. Melinda has completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Music Performance, a Graduate Diploma in Music Education, Graduate Certificate in Gifted Education and is a registered teacher with Music Teachers’ Association of NSW.
Quality private lessons in Flute, Piano, Music Theory and Musicianship were offered from the home studio and from Berala Public School in 2001. In 2002, lessons also became available at Penrith Christian Community School. In 2003, Joseph Gindy took over management of the business as further staff was sought to meet new student demands. Joseph oversees the studio with a Bachelor of Business. The first annual Piano Concert also took place in 2003, with students performing to a crowd of over 50 family and friends. In 2004, Cindy Eng was employed to tutor piano and theory in the growing studio. In 2006, we commenced our first Music Theory class. In 2007, we said a sad goodbye to Cindy as she moved back to Singapore to further her musical studies.
MGMS then welcomed Esther Whitbread as a piano and theory tutor. Lessons were offered in Regents Park Christian School and Menai in 2009. In 2010, we welcomed our guitar teacher, Steven Mylonas and also began offering quarterly recital nights in additional to our annual showcase concert.
In 2011, we introduced the 50/100/150 pieces medal system, as well as commenced purchase and provision of the ‘Scale Card System’ for our pianists in grade 2 and above. Victoria Tilbury brought our present teaching staff to 4 as our Menai student number expanded. In 2015, MGMS welcomed Nathan Wu onto the team as casual tutor.
Today, we pride ourselves on our gentle and friendly beginner approach, the continuing success of our theory classes, our excellent AMEB results, and our numerous students who have gone onto to pursue university music degrees and apply their musical skills in a variety of platforms.
