🎨 Who We Are

At Made Askew, we believe every child is an artist. Our creative workshops are thoughtfully designed to nurture creativity, confidence and curiosity through hands-on, process-based art experiences. Led by Alanna Askew—a ceramic artist, mother and qualified primary school teacher—each session provides a warm, welcoming space where young makers feel safe to explore, imagine and discover their own artistic voice.

We proudly focus on process over product, encouraging children to experiment, take creative risks and enjoy the sensory joy of working with clay, paint, colour, texture and mixed media. Rather than rushing to a finished piece, children are supported to slow down, follow their ideas and build confidence through making.

🌱 Our Teaching Approach

Made Askew is grounded in Reggio-inspired, inquiry-based learning, honouring children as capable, imaginative thinkers. Each workshop balances open-ended exploration with gentle guidance in foundational art skills, helping children develop both creative confidence and practical understanding. From sculpting with clay and mixing colours to building with wire and experimenting with printmaking, children are encouraged to problem-solve, make choices and express themselves freely.
