ABOUT US

Lé Beat Dance Academy (LBDA) offers professional and expert dance tuition in the Albury / Wodonga region for all ages and abilities. Our highly skilled teachers are passionate about sharing their love of dance with their students, whilst teaching correct technique through fun, yet structured classes.

Operating under one principle, Kyra Wright (RAD RTS), Lé Beat has come a long way since its days as a tiny dance school operating out of a hall in Lavington. It has now become one of Albury Wodonga’s most recognised and fastest growing dance schools, producing outstanding young dancers, winning at both a state and national level.

As we continue to grow, our new studio will allow us the space to offer more classes per week and maintain optimal class sizes in what will be Albury Wodonga’s finest dance centre. We are incredibly excited for its grand opening in 2020/2021 and the future of Lé Beat Dance Academy.

CLASSES

★ Tiny Tots / Pro Tots

For little ones between the ages of 2 years to 3 years and 4 years to 5 years.

These classes are a really wonderful introduction to dance, especially created for boys and girls with a desire to move and groove. The main focus in this class is to make dance enjoyable for the children, especially encouraging beginner dancers to build self-esteem and confidence, improve co-ordination, motor skills, spatial awareness, muscle strength, flexibility and rhythm in a fun and imaginative environment.

★ R.A.D Classical Ballet

Ages - 2 years and above.

Classical Ballet is an essential component of every dancer’s repertoire. It creates balance, grace, agility, core strength and discipline. Through Ballet you can develop your fitness, musicality and artistry. The most identifiable aspect of the R.A.D method is the attention to detail when learning the basic steps. The progression is difficult and is often very slow. While the difficulty of an exercise may only increase slightly from grade to grade, more importance is placed on whether the student is performing the step with improved technique. Lé Beat offers a wide range of exams to motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities.

★ Contemporary

Age - 6 years and above.

Contemporary is the ‘modern art’ of the dance world. It is very interpretive in its choreography, often focusing on emotions and storytelling. It combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet, with dancers striving to connect both mind and the body through fluid dance movements. In our contemporary classes we focus on fluid movements, working within the body’s natural alignment and the concepts of flow and weight, rebound and suspension, contraction and release and fall and recovery.

★ Jazz

Age - 5 years and above.

Jazz classes focus on learning correct dance technique including isolations of the body, body positioning, body alignment, performance quality and developing rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop them as a Jazz dancer. In these classes they will also touch on the strength, stretch and cardio aspects for dance.

★ Tap

Age - 6 years and above.

Our tap dance classes will strengthen your child’s skills in co-ordination, musicality and rhythm. Tap dancers are able to create music with their feet and combine a multitude of sounds in single, double and even triple sequences using metal plates on the bottom of their shoes.

Tap dancing incorporates the use of arms and upper bodies to blend movements of ballet or jazz into tap routines. Tap is dynamic, exhilarating and fun. A love of tap dance lasts a lifetime.

★ Hip Hop

Age - 6 years and above.

Hip Hop is a constantly evolving style of dance that is fresh, fierce and energetic. Fusing modern trends with traditional street styles, students will gain strength, coordination and stamina whilst learning rhythm, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movements. Movements are crisp and varied which really give the brain a great workout as steps are rarely repeated and can involve complicated rhythm structures. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class.

★ Musical Theatre

Age - 6 years and above.

Musical Theatre is less of a particular style, and more of a description of dancing derived from musicals. This style relies on students’ knowledge of all genres, which also includes acting and musical interpretation. Its an extremely fun, energetic and intriguing class, where students can get lost in playing the character they are portraying. our Musical Theatre class will compete at the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod End of July Early August.

★ Limber & Stretch

Age - 6 years and above.

These classes are essential for students wishing to increase their flexibility and improve their core strength. They will learn how to control and centre their body, improve precision of movement and the flow of motion, as well as correct breathing and relaxation techniques. Stretching and strengthening trains the body to support and adjust a technical correction without strain or injury. Students will gain muscle strength and flexibility while improving their endurance, building stronger, healthy bodies.

★ Acrobatics

Age - 6 years and above.

Our Acrobatics class is created specifically for dancers. It is a genre of dance which incorporates elements of gymnastics, jazz, balancing and contortion. Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels and aerials, chest stands, elbow stands and walkovers. It offers greater depth and variety to a students dancing, creating a much more versatile dancer.

★ Troupes

Age - 6 years and above.

L.é Beat Dance Academy competition teams are by invitation only. They are known as our premium groups which requires a lot of commitment and pride from all students and family members that are part of the team. All members of each team are required to travel to dance competitions and eisteddfods around our region. The Lé Beat teachers are always on the look out for new members. New members are normally invited into a team after the year’s competition season has finished (end of term 3 – term 4) this is to guarantee all members are up to speed for the next competition season.
