What do we do?
Physical Culture (Physie) is a series of low impact exercises in dance form choreographed to top 40 music. It aims to improve strength, flexibility and confidence through dance. The girls are taught in a nurturing environment where they are encouraged to develop and grow whilst making physie friends which are friends for life. Physie is for girls aged 3 years to 103 years old so all 3 generations of families can do physie together.
There are 4 routines done from memory performed to top 40 music
1. Marching and Deportment
2. Exercises
3. Rhythm and Floor drill
4. Dance
COMPETITIONS
There are two competitions each year which the girls can compete in. Competitions are not compulsory however they are a lot of fun and give the girls a goal to work towards.
Championships - The girls compete against other Physical Culture clubs in individual and team competitions.
Club Competition - The girls compete as individuals within their club, awards are given for attendance, technique and participation.
AGE GROUPS
○ Preschoolers 3-4
○ Tiny Tots 5-7
○ Teeny Boppers 8-12
○ Teenagers 13-15
○ Ladies Open
○ Elementary & Advanced
○ Seniors 16 +
There is no strict uniform for class, leotards are optional. The girls are encouraged to wear bike shorts and a T-shirt. Leotards and ballets are compulsory in competitions for juniors.
