Established in 2004 as Redhead Mobile Surf School, we’ve been helping kids and families discover the joy of surfing for over 20 years. In 2012, owner and lifelong surfer Miles Niddrie renamed the school to Learn to Surf Newcastle to reflect our wider reach across the region. Licensed with Surfing Australia and approved by local councils, we’re proud to offer safe, high-quality surf lessons all year round—even in winter!

🌊 Our Lessons

We provide a range of programs to suit every age and skill level. From fun Group Surfing Lessons and SurfTeens sessions, to Private Surfing Lessons and Intermediate to Advanced Coaching, there’s something for everyone. Younger kids can join Woolworths SurfGroms, while women and girls can enjoy the supportive Her Wave Beginner and Intermediate Programs.

As Newcastle’s first mobile surf school, we’ve always focused on finding the best beginner-friendly waves. Our primary locations include Blacksmiths, Caves, and Stockton beaches, but we’re licensed to teach from Stockton to Catherine Hill Bay. Surfing safely means knowing the tides, swell, sandbanks, and wind—and our experienced coaches make sure your child learns in the right conditions. Miles, who has been coaching since 2003, brings decades of passion and expertise to every lesson, helping kids and adults alike improve their technique and confidence in the water.
