I offer a range of interventions to support your child’s individual learning needs.

Each child is provided with play based interactive activities to improve learning as well as memory pathways, language, processing speed and attentional control. By addressing these areas I am enhancing the child’s capacity to acquire new learning concepts which will allow them to further reach their full potential.

My instruction is child centred and interactive, focusing on the serve and return communication between the child and the adult. I believe that children learn best when they are intrinsically motivated. My learning style is about teaching not testing so that the child can succeed and be extended to learn more.

Parents are encouraged to watch the sessions and feedback is provided on how the child is progressing when working towards their individual goals.

I work with parents as a team to develop the child’s learning ability and self confidence.

LITERACY APPROACH

My approach to ensuring children become literate is to provide an evidence-based instruction in phonics (speech to print) approach. Lessons are structured, cumulative, sequential and explicit - highly recommended for teaching children to read and spell. I place a high emphasis on cracking the code so that children can attend to the sounds in words so that they can write and read them. Children are provided with instruction on decoding and encoding whilst simultaneously looking at vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Allison is an Educator who has spent 26 years working with children of all ages. She majored in Early Childhood Education and has established herself as a much-respected professional in early years’ literacy.

Allison is driven by her belief that all children should be supported to achieve literacy by accessing programs that support their learning style. Her passion for literacy has increased following the diagnosis of her own child with dyslexia and dysgraphia.

This journey has created a desire for her to support other families who have children with additional needs.
