CLASSES

• BALLET

L’Académie ballet classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, the world’s leading organisation in classical ballet education.

• CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.

• JAZZ

In these classes students enhance their knowledge in training specific parts of the body to a variety of music genres.

• LYRICAL

Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and contemporary techniques challenging dancers to use movement to interpret music and express emotion.

• ACRO DANCE

Acro Dance incorporates elements of acrobatics and jazz.

• NATIONAL CHARACTER

National character introduces students to the history and culture of European countries through dance and music.

SUGARPLUMS

For ages 2-5, these fun-filled group dance classes are designed to develop your child’s co-ordination, motor skills, muscle memory, musicality and spatial awareness, all the while stimulating their imagination and creativity.

With dance, improvisation, song and music, the children are engaged from the moment that class begins right through to the end of the lesson.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

L’Académie classes for Pre Primary and above:

• Value technique as a foundation for all forms of dance

• Instil a sense of presence and dynamics in a dancer’s movement

• Facilitate an encouraging environment, coupled with hard work and patience, which ensures students reach their full potential.

Sugarplums classes for ages 2 to 5:

• Create a strong base for any dance specialisation

• Emphasise learning skills that will be important in a child’s future development.

• Are based on ballet technique and teach co-ordination, balance, rhythm and musicality.

All dance classes are taught in fully equipped and purpose built studios in Ashfield.
