★ SWIMMING LEVELS

○ INTRODUCTION TO WATER - 18 MONTHS +

Our Introduction to Water program is a well-rounded and balanced program that provides opportunities for experiences in the key areas for development of aquatic skills. The key learning areas are strands which are consistent throughout the Swim and Survive program. Within each stage of Introduction to Water there are 1-2 skills from each strand that should be experienced.

○ BEGINNERS

Our Beginners course is designed as the first step in continuing to learn water skills but without the aid of having their parent/ carer in the water. With the restrictions and challenges that COVID19 have introduced into our lives we have had to reduce our class sizes. This is why our ratios must stay at 1:2 to ensure the safety and well being of each student in the class.

○ INTERMEDIATE

Our intermediate program is a broad and balanced program teaching a range of skills and knowledge to develop swimming, water safety, survival and basic rescue skills. With a vibrant look, and an increased focus on stroke development, it encourages children to have a healthy respect for the aquatic environment.

○ ADVANCED

Our Advanced course is designed for people who have begun to develop coordinated breathing and stroke techniques.

This course will help to further build on their existing front stroke skills by teaching other front stroke techniques, such as breast stroke and will also teach children the basics of how to swim on their backs and introduce arms.

○ ADDITIONAL / SPECIAL NEEDS

Additional needs classes are great for anyone that feels the traditional class format might not be suitable due to differing skills and abilities i.e. the ability to concentrate and or take instruction is often the area of concern, or physical disabilities and begin able to adapt skills to still remain safe in water environments.

The Owners of JOW have two sons with additional needs, their eldest 13 has ADHD, ASD, anxiety, motor tics and allergies and the youngest 9 has Anxiety, allergies and Asthma.

Tracy, JOW principle instructor has a strong education background specialising in early intervention and has lots of expertise working with families and people with diverse needs.
