I Can Read

The I Can Read System was developed by educational psychologists, Annabel Seargeant and Tony Earnshaw over twenty years ago. The I Can Read System grew out of a need to make it easy for children to learn to read when English is such an arbitrary and complex language, which flouts all the rules and has vocabulary borrowed from many different languages.

Taught by qualified teachers specialising in literacy, it is a proven system which has never had a failure!

LITTLE BEARS CLUB - From LANGUAGE to LITERACY

For children from 3.5 years, this programme emphasises expressive and receptive English, an introduction to the sounds of the language, vocabulary building, storytime and oral presentation, all in the context of language development.

THINKING and CREATIVE SKILLS

This programme aims to develop an emotionally intelligent child who can use emerging phonological skills. When the child becomes aware that spoken words have little sounds, this is the beginning of phonemic awareness, and the child can advance to the next programme.

An essential programme to establish phonemic awareness and phonics to prepare the student for the reading programme

I CAN READ

The unique I Can Read programme teaches reading using a special methodology that enables the student to decode unfamiliar words quickly and easily.

COMPREHENSION AND CREATIVE WRITING

This programme is suitable for students who can read but are not ready for the Advanced Language & Literacy skills Programme. It encourages love of fiction and inspires children to create their own stories.

ADVANCED LANGUAGE & LITERACY SKILLS

For the confident reader, this programme provides comprehension techniques, grammar, creative writing and oral presentation skills, based on the primary syllabus. Three stages: 1, 2 and 3 depending on ability.

I CAN READ - BANKSTOWN

One of our most established centres in NSW, our busy Bankstown centre has been in operation for over 10 years. Owned by I Can Read Head Office, and expertly managed by Head Teacher, Susan, ICR Bankstown is supported by a great team of experienced teachers with a large following of loyal and engaged students.

I CAN READ - BURWOOD

Another of our earliest centres, the Burwood centre is owned by I Can Read Head Office, and run like clockwork by Bianca our Manager and supported by our most experienced and longest serving teacher Peta, who has been managing the school since its inception. Peta is a role model for trainee teachers who observe her classes as part of their training. This very popular centre has recently re-located to bigger and better premises with more teachers and more classrooms to accommodate its growing numbers.
