Glebe Junior Australian Football Club

Founded in 1980 the Glebe Greyhounds Junior Football Club gives children from 5 to 16 the chance to play Australian Rules Football.

Our philosophy is that every player who wants a game gets a game. This means that the club prides itself on ensuring all players are treated equally and that our main priority is a fun, safe and family environment.

We value all players and keep a record, published in our yearbook, of every game played and goal scored by every Glebe player ever.

The club is one of the largest in Sydney and plays in the famous black and white strip of Collingwood. Our home ground, Jubilee Oval on the shores of Blackwattle Bay is one of the most beautiful football grounds in Sydney.

The rules are modified for younger players to emphasise the skills of Australian Rules football – this means fun, safe and fair games.

All our coaches are fully trained and accredited with the Australian Football League.

★ AUSKICK

Our Auskick program is all about having fun, getting your hands on the footy and constantly being involved in exciting activities.

The program has been designed across three sequential levels to be delivered over three (or more) years of participation. Each level includes a structured combination of activities that are age and skill appropriate.

★ YOUTH GIRLS

Glebe fielded its first Junior Youth Girls team in 2015. Since then the girl’s competition has been a runaway success, allowing the Greyhounds to fielding multiple Youth Girls U10, U12, U14 and U16 teams.

The competition enables girls to develop their skills and test them out competitively on the football field each weekend. They play a modified game that reduces contact and encourages them to have fun and learn how to play AFL. Most players will not have had any experience of the game.

Experience is not necessary and all girls are welcome to come along, have fun, get fit, meet new friends and play for the mighty Greyhounds.

Girls games are played on a Sunday.

At Glebe our club values are COURAGE, RESPECT and COMMUNITY, and they underpin everything we do.

We show COURAGE on the field by going for the ball and playing hard, fair footy, and it we show COURAGE off the field by calling out behaviour that doesn’t fit with our values. We RESPECT our club and our team, we RESPECT coaches and volunteers, our opposition and the umpires, and most importantly we RESPECT ourselves. We recognise the club has a role in the COMMUNITY beyond footy. Everyone is welcome at Glebe, we aren’t just about producing better footy players, we’re about producing better people.
