At Freestyle Taekwondo Academy, we combine the tradition of ITF Taekwondo Patterns/Forms with a modern approach to cross‑training and self‑defence. Our classes are taught in English, with just a few simple Korean words used for commands like “attention” and “ready.” Families love that our training is safe, structured, and designed to build confidence and discipline in kids.

💪 Self‑Defence & Gradings

Self‑defence is taught under strict supervision, using real‑life scenarios where students practise responding in real time. Regular gradings give children clear goals to work towards, with criteria including:

• Proficiency in Patterns/Forms

• Fitness

• Self‑Defence

• Sparring

• Attitude qualities such as manners and discipline

This balanced approach ensures kids grow not only as martial artists but also as respectful, resilient individuals.

👨‍🏫 Our Instructor

Master Instructor Malcolm Pearce leads the academy with over 30 years of martial arts experience. A 4th‑degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and internationally recognised through Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters), Malcolm brings a wealth of knowledge. He is a world champion board breaker, has studied multiple martial arts including Salat, Karate, and Judo, and continues to train in Wing Chun Kung Fu to refine his skills. His passion for cross‑training ensures students receive a well‑rounded martial arts education.
