OUR CLASSES

✨ Jazz

Jazz is an ever-evolving dance form, full of rhythm, passion and life! Modern and energetic in its style, our Jazz classes have an emphasis on proper technique and strength/flexibility, incorporating innovative and entertaining choreography.

✨ Lyrical

Lyrical is an expressive class combining both Ballet & Jazz elements to inspire artistry, perfect for students who want to convey a story through their dance practice. In 2019 our Open Lyrical team received a bid to the Australian Pinnacle for this style & in 2020 we won 2nd overall highest scoring Lyrical at the AASCF State titles.

✨ Classical Ballet

Ballet is one of the world’s most beautiful and revered art forms. Dancers will love building on a foundation of basic movements set to beautiful music as they grow their strength and abilities. While it can be challenging at the higher levels, this traditional dance form is a pleasure to learn for all ages. Students who take ballet classes build self-control, body awareness and self discipline as they learn to master increasingly technical moves. Dancers are able to complete exams through the Asia Pacific Dance Association (APDA).

✨ POM

Pom is a dynamic mix of strong Jazz dance technique, cheerleading arm motions & jumps, exciting formational and visual choreography - and of course - we use poms! This class is fast paced, energetic & a lot of fun!

✨ Acro

These classes will teach gymnastic & acrobatic skills with a focus on the dancer, how they learn & how their body works as an individual, proper technique & safety FIRST.

✨ Hip Hop

Popping, locking & isolations are just some of the techniques taught in this addictive class! We have a competition crew available for those who want to perform as well as a recreational class.

✨ Little Diamonds

These creative movement based classes are perfect for children aged 2-4 years & teach proper dance technique & etiquette in a fun environment to modern music.

✨ Technique (TECH)

Tech classes hone skills that our dancers require for their competitive teams (or for those who just want to keep up their training). We are excited to offer the International Dance Technique (IDT) syllabus at Formation & students are able to sit exams in their levels if the wish.

ABOUT US

Formation is a close-knit dance community located in Acacia Ridge on Brisbane's south side. 2023 is our 6th year & we have gone from strength to strength, winning grand champions at regional, state & national-level competitions in Jazz, Lyrical & Pom. In 2021 we were awarded a bid to compete at the IASF World Championship in Orlando Florida.

At Formation, our main goal is to create happy dancers that felt like they were being built up & never knocked down. We always put our dancers first & work hard to foster a love of dance in anyone who walks through our doors.

Our classes are All Star-style, which makes for dynamic routines, that are fun & challenging for dancers. Teams compete at several competitions during the year, along with various community events & an end of year concert.
