What do we do?
Doonside Hawks Soccer Club was started back in 1981. The Club has grown from humble beginnings when our home ground was Charlie Bali Reserve (formally Kareela Reserve). The Club moved to Glendenning Reserve, doubling its size to 2 full fields and 3 mini fields.
Doonside Hawks Early History
The first get together to form a club was in October 1980.
The meeting was held at Doonside Community Centre and was attended by Brian Picket, Steve Lindsay, Fred Sammut, Margaret McColl, Brian Ross and John Xuereb as an adviser.
The discussion was around how they would get money together to start the Club. A donation of $300 was made by the Sports and Recreation Club (which at the time included the Doonside Cricket and Athletics Clubs)
Next on the list was the Clubs colours and name. – maroon and white were chosen and the first name was Doonside Sports and Recreation Soccer Club.
The newly formed committee applied and registered to join the Blacktown Association.
