What do we do?
🥰 About us
Dhamma Yoga is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run Yoga and Ayurveda centre in Blacktown, nurtured by a joyful community that values simplicity, conscious living, and closeness to nature. Rooted in timeless traditions, we welcome families and individuals of all ages to discover balance, wellbeing, and inner peace. At the heart of our name lies Dhamma—the timeless truth of universal harmony. In the Vedic tradition, this cosmic order is known as Rta, a principle of universal intelligence. When life aligns with this order, it becomes dharma—our true nature. Love and compassion naturally flow from this harmony, guiding our practice and community spirit.
🌱 Our Mission
We are a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing to humanity. Through Yoga and Ayurveda, we share time-tested tools that integrate body, mind, and spirit, helping individuals find balance and transformation. Our mission extends beyond the mat: we run initiatives to reduce suffering, uplift communities, and spread joy. From free classes for seniors and disadvantaged groups, to workplace yoga programs, breathing sessions during the pandemic, and awareness campaigns on healthy living, we strive to make wellness accessible to all.
🧘 Our Programs
Families can choose from regular group classes, private sessions, or memberships for ongoing support. All sessions are tailored for beginners through to intermediate levels, encouraging participants to go at their own pace while building confidence, strength, and mindfulness.

ADULTS PROGRAM
1. ✨ PINGALA VINYASA, every Monday 6:30pm - 7:30pm ✨
This session is a dynamic Vinyasa flow designed to synchronize breath with movement. Unlike the stillness of Hatha, Pingala focuses on continuous flow, helping you build internal heat, improve cardiovascular health, and refine your movement patterns. It is a “Fierce and Focused” practice that energizes the body and clears the mind.
2. 🧘 HATHA YOGA | IDA, every Tuesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm 🧘
This class is “Gentle and Wise,” focusing on static postures held for longer durations to improve alignment and flexibility. It is the perfect counterbalance to a busy, stressful week. We focus on mindful breathing and grounding movements to soothe the mind and release deep-seated tension in the muscles.
Slow down, reconnect, and restore. Ida is a gentle Hatha practice designed to cool the body, calm the nervous system, and cultivate deep flexibility through static postures.
3. 💪 SHAKTI | STRENGTH, every Thursday 6:30pm - 7:30pm 💪
This class is designed to harness that power through intense, strength-building postures. Unlike a typical flow, Shakti focuses on holding challenging poses to build muscular endurance, core stability, and mental fortitude. It is a “Strong and Stable” practice that sculpts the body and empowers the will, laying the foundation for advanced movement.
4. 🧘 YIN YOGA, every Friday 6:30pm - 7:30pm 🧘
Similar to Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga (as exercise), incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other yoga styles. Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fasciae, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, its goals are awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
5. 🔆 SUSHMANA | HARMONY, every Saturday 9:00am - 10:00am 🔆
The Sushmana Nadi is the central energy channel that runs up the spine, representing the perfect balance between the hot (Pingala) and cool (Ida) energies. This class is “Balanced and Blissful.” It combines gentle movement with potent breathwork (Pranayama) and meditation techniques. The goal is not just physical fitness, but nervous system regulation. By centering your energy, you cultivate a state of deep mental clarity and inner silence that lasts long after you leave the mat.
