Denise Begnell believes the approach to teaching singing should be enjoyable and holistic, building confidence and self-belief. Every voice is unique and as such, the approach to teaching each pupil varies.

Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, young or old, singing lessons can be personalized to suit you. Denise is a vocal technician and is able to help people understand and reach excellence in vocal discipline, mastery and expression.

Exam Work:

Denise Begnell gives her students the opportunity of taking exams either with AMEB (Australian Music and Examination Board) or Trinity College of London and has had a 100% pass rate.

Whether you are wanting to make a career in music or you are singing for pleasure, students find that undergoing exams is great motivation to keep challenging themselves. These exams require you to perform technical pieces, along with songs, undertake aural work and sight singing.

AMEB offer different types of singing exams including Classical, Musical Theatre and Singing for Leisure.

HSC Music Preparation:

Denise has been preparing vocal students for HSC performance for over 25 years and is very familiar with topics and requirements. She likes to work closely with the students’ school teacher to gain the best possible outcome and has had several students nominated for Encore “the best of the best”. To date, all students have achieved results of band 4 through to band 6, the majority being a band 5.

Eisteddfods:

Denise is also able to prepare her students for eisteddfods in all genres of music, both locally and in Sydney and has had pleasing results with up to 75% of students either winning or placing.

Auditions:

Coaching students for auditions is another service that Denise Begnell is able to offer. Many students have been accepted in to Universities, Conservatoriums and other Music Institutions. Auditions can also be prepared for local Musical Theatres.

Denise strives for personal vocal excellence and improvement, continuing to take part in various Conferences and Workshops. She has high standards for herself as a teacher and as such will not accept any negativity from her students. Neither will she compare any student to another. Encouragement is the key to her teaching as each pupil is on their own personal journey.
