Croft-Gilchrist School of Dancing

Croft Gilchrist School of Dancing invites dancers of all ages to experience the joy and benefits of dance at Townsville’s premier dance studio.

Founded by Robyn Croft, a former Australian Ballet and Royal Ballet dancer, and her husband Doug Gilchrist, the school has brought the art of dance to students across Townsville. With Robyn's deep passion and expertise, each class is crafted to boost students’ confidence, coordination, and self-expression.

Our studio offers an engaging range of dance classes designed for every age group:

✨ Tiny Tots & Dance with Me Toddler Class – Starting at age 2, our youngest dancers develop movement skills, coordination, music appreciation, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

✨ Rhythm & Dance Classes – New in 2023, we offer a special Tap and Jazz combination class for ages 4-6 and another for 7-10-year-olds, blending rhythm, energy, and creativity.

✨ Ballet – Using the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, we teach students of all levels, from beginner to vocational, incorporating character work for a complete ballet education.

✨ Modern/Jazz & Tap – Following the ADA syllabus, we teach interactive skills and techniques in Jazz and Tap. Classes include a special Tap & Jazz combination class for ages 7-10, introduced in 2022.

✨ Highland – Our students learn the rich tradition of Scottish Highland dance, following the standards of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing for competitions and VSDA examinations.

✨ Teenage & Adult Classes – We offer a wide range of styles, including Hip Hop, Modern/Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Highland, tailored to teenage and adult dancers of all levels.

✨ Acrobatic Dance – Known as “acro,” this style merges classical dance with athletic acrobatic elements, allowing dancers to express emotion and musicality through challenging, unique choreography.
