TENNIS COACHING

At Cagney Tennis Academy, we’re passionate about tennis coaching, we love helping our clients learn to play tennis or play tennis better…. its what makes us tick! We believe that technique is the foundation to playing tennis at the highest level each individual is capable of. We pride ourselves on being able to provide excellent technical instruction in a fun games based environment that allows players to learn and experience tennis while being shown the correct way. Our Coaches are the most experienced coaching team in the Hunter Region and continually attend education courses and workshops with Tennis Australia to improve their vast knowledge and skills, and keep up to date with the latest coaching trends from around the world.

All our classes are graded on ability (and age for children) so players are learning and training with other players of similar ability and experience. Hotshots classes are graded – Red Ball, Orange Ball then Green Ball before progressing to a a regular Yellow Ball. Red Ball 3-6 years, Orange Ball 6-9 years, Green Ball 9+ years then Yellow Ball from 12+years. Adult classes are Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

ABOUT US

Cagney Tennis Academy first evolved at Eleebana Tennis Centre in 1992 after Head Coach and owner, Derek commenced coaching with a handful of students. Through hard work, dedication and patience, the business has grown to span 5 centres today across the Lake Macquarie / Newcastle regions, with many former students now bringing their own children back to learn how to play tennis.

Derek and his team have coached thousands of players over the almost 30 years they have been operating and have mentored children in the U10, U12, U14, U16 NSW State Team Carnivals, as well as coached players with State and National Rankings. Some former students have also been successful with careers on the Men’s professional ATP Tour.

With a focus on professionalism and correct technique, Cagney Tennis Academy is the most experienced and leading teaching academy in the region.
