At Brisbane Knights Football Club, we’re more than just a team — we’re a community with deep roots and a proud Croatian heritage. From our beginnings in 1952 as HNK Croatia Brisbane, through decades of growth, change, and resilience, the Knights have become a cornerstone of grassroots football in Queensland.

📖 Our Story

Formed in 1952 and officially registered in 1957, the club has played under several names including New Farm SC, Sunnyside United SC, Croatia Soccer Club, Brisbane Croatia Soccer Club, and Rocklea United SC. In 1970, the Croatian community purchased land in Rocklea, which remains the home of the Knights today. By the 1980s, the club was competing in the Brisbane Premier League, cementing its place in local football history.

🏆 Recent History

• 2013: Relegated from Capital League 1, but bounced back immediately in 2014 with promotion.

• 2015: Hosted the 41st Australian‑Croatian Soccer Tournament, a tradition the club has proudly supported since the 1980s.

• 2017: Promoted back to the Brisbane Premier League after finishing third in League 1.

• 2020: Gold Coast Knights SC assisted with operations during the pandemic, while fields underwent major repairs.

• 2021: Returned to full control, fielding teams in the Men’s Brisbane Premier League, Masters Competition, and Women’s Brisbane City League. The main field was renamed the Ivan “Johnny” Mesic Memorial Field in honour of a founding member.

• 2022: Expanded with a second Masters team and an Under 6’s squad, continuing to grow opportunities for young players.
