Overview

    Does your child love to draw and explore the outdoors?

    Join us for a fun and educational art class where kids can enhance their observational skills and eye-hand coordination and learn techniques through creative drawing activities!

    In this class, children will be painting and drawing using:

    ○ Pencil
    ○ Ink wash
    ○ Watercolors
    ○ Sketchbooks

    Children will:

    ○ Observe the fascinating details of plants, animals and the landscape
    ○ Improve drawing and painting skills
    ○ Learn colour mixing, capture areas of light and shade, and identify positive and negative space to enhance proportion and composition.

    This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to connect with nature, enjoy a calm and creative setting, and develop lifelong journaling techniques to capture their observations and travels.

    All materials will be provided.

    ○ Time: Classes are held on Thursdays in Term 2 from 1 May-26 June from 3.30-4:30pm
    ○ Cost: $30 per week or pay by Term, $25 × 9 weeks ($225).

About the provider

The HIVE is a professional artist-run studio, fine art gallery and co-operative art space, built to encourage inclusivity and creativity within artist practice, no matter your level of skill.


Join us at the HIVE for a fun and educational Kids Art Class where children can enhance their observational skills and eye-hand coordination through creative activities!

Together we’ll explore things from the garden and learn to use a range of art materials including water colour, pencil and ink.

* Observe the fascinating details of birds’ feathers, seed pods, flowers, and more

* Learn about germinating seedlings and the life cycles of insects

* Create a series of drawings and watercolor paintings inspired by the natural world


This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to reconnect with nature, enjoy a calm and creative setting, and develop lifelong visual journaling techniques to capture their observations and travels.


Classes and workshops provide locals and visitors with the opportunity to gain skills and connect in a safe and friendly creative space.


Kids Art Classes are taught by registered teacher, Jo Ellings Adler, an arts graduate from Tasmania and former Gold Coast Art teacher.
