Mini Music Makers trial

G Major Studios • Connells Point 2221star5.0(View 5 ratings)

Overview

The Mini Music Makers is a program designed to be a positive, creative and exploratory first introduction to music for preschoolers and their parents in a group setting. The program aims to develop foundational skills and will provide great preparation for private lessons on any instrument as they will be exploring pitch, patterns and rhythm.

The program has six core elements, and each class will include a mix of engaging activities covering each of the first 4 elements and alternating the 5th and 6th every 2nd week:
    - Aural: Singing, listening, and exploring sounds through fun vocal exercises and folk songs.
    - Rhythm: Using body percussion, movement, and props like scarves or beanbags to feel and internalise the beat.
    - Theory: Simple, interactive games to introduce concepts like high and low sounds, loud and soft dynamics, and basic note recognition.
    - Listening in Color: Developing attentive listening skills through musical storytelling, often using classics like The Carnival of the Animals.
    - Technique (Alternating Weeks): Activities that encourage fine motor skill development, like origami, arts and crafts, or movement-based exercises.
    - Repertoire (Alternating Weeks): Introducing simple songs using colour-coded notation to foster early music reading skills.
No equipment is required and the classes are designed to be no-practice, although enthusiastic repetition of class content at home is always encouraged and welcomed!

Classes are held at our studio space in Connells Point and capped at 6 students per class for comfortable use of the space. It involves weekly 1-hour classes during the school term and is split across two levels (as listed below). The MMM1 program runs for 3 terms (30 weeks) and the MMM2 for 4 terms (40 weeks). Each class is $24 and payment is per term.

Mini Music Makers 1: First-year program. Recommended for 3-5 year olds.
Mini Music Makers 2: Second-year program. Recommended for 4-6 year olds and those who have completed the Mini Music Makers 1 program.

We currently have a Mini Music Makers 1 class with availability. It runs on Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm with Mrs Julie Marshall.

My daughter enjoys coming to her piano classes with Rosanna. Lessons are well structured with theory and practical components with resources to take home to continue revise and build knowledge.
