- Our Programs
🎹 Piano wit a Smile
We offer three programs for beginners:
🐣 Little KeyNotes ages 5-6
For our youngest students, this curriculum uses games, singing, colouring and prop-work to introduce students to the musical alphabet, notes of the piano, 5-finger C position and basic rhythms. Each week students learn a new note and explore songs based around themes such as Animal Alphabet, On The Farm and Under The Sea. Lessons are 30 minutes in length.
📖 Storytellers ages 6-8
Songs in this program are used to illustrate popular stories such as Goldilocks, The Gingerbread Man and Jack and the Beanstalk. Through playing and singing the songs, students learn keyboard geography, finger numbers, rhythms and musical elements. Workbooks are available in either Pre-reader or Reader versions (having pitch notation), dependent on age and prior knowledge of the student. Lessons are 45 minutes long.
🎼 Connections (age 9+)
🌟 KeyNotes Play ages 9+
This reading-based program is designed for tweens and teens who are ready to explore the world of music with a focus on independence, engaging challenges and personalised growth. Learning covers rhythm, keyboard geography, pitch notation and fingering, and introduces reading strategies such as landmark notes and directional and intervallic reading.
Repertoire is modern and appealing, and features backing tracks in a variety of styles. Lessons are 45 minutes long.
🎶 There are three additional levels for continuing students:
🎤 Singing to embed learning
All programs consist of a series of workbooks with clearly defined learning objectives. Students are monitored weekly and upon achieving the objectives, graduate to the next level. On completion of Foundation 2, students will have developed a solid level of proficiency and understanding and be ready to move on to private lessons and, if they wish, an exam syllabus.
