Origem Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began in 1998. Leonardo Machado started teaching in 2004. He has continued to fly the flag for Origem running the academy with his father in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and now in Sydney Australia.

The Master

Leonardo is a second degree black belt graduated by his father and master Coral Belt Grandmaster Guilherme Doria Machado. Guilherme received his black belt from the hands of the Legend Grandmaster Helio Gracie, creator with his older brother Carlos Gracie of brazilian jiu-Jitsu dynasty.

Leonardo came from Brazil with a mission to continue teaching the old school jiu jitsu, bringing back the essence of the art.

Our Kids / Teens program is developed to empower your child, and at the same time nurture them in a fun, respectful and safe “family” environment. Our classes teach them how to stand up for themselves and become champions on and off the mats. Your child will build confidence, develop body coordination & awareness, but will also learn the importance of respect, humbleness, discipline, focus, commitment, perseverance & resilience. The head coaches behind this program are two very skilled and experienced instructors. Leonardo Machado is a 3rd degree black belt with 23 years of BJJ experience and Carolina Mello is a graduate in Early Childhood Education and Care in Australia and is a purple belt with 8 years of BJJ experience. You will only understand what all this means to your child once they try it out!
