About:
Our Youth Program runs along side the school term and operates on a three year curriculum cycle. Each term we unpack a different theme, exploring relevant and practical elements of that theme through engaging creative expressive arts activities and fun hands-on projects.
OVERVIEW:
The Term 2 Youth Program is aimed at building self-awareness, where each week, participants will be guided on a journey towards understanding themselves better. Beginning with Body Awareness to establish the mind-body connection, moving through Naming Your Feelings, Values, and Beliefs, and culminating in Self-Reflection, the program empowers children to recognise, acknowledge, and embrace their emotions, strengths, and needs. By incorporating art as a medium of expression and introspection, participants learn valuable skills in self-awareness that are foundational to their emotional intelligence and long-term personal development.
RATIONALE:
Building self-awareness benefits the current emotional wellbeing of youth, but also lays a strong foundation for navigating future challenges with confidence and maturity. In today's fast-paced and often stressful world, the ability to understand and manage one's emotions is crucial for mental health and overall happiness. By teaching youth to name their feelings, practice self-compassion, set boundaries, and ask for help when needed, they will be equipped with essential life skills that promote resilience, empathy, and healthy relationships. Through art and self-awareness, youth can grow into emotionally intelligent individuals capable of leading themselves through fulfilling and balanced lives.
