- BUBSthrive (0 to 3 years)
Little Heroes’ BUBSthrive offers a progressive submersion based program that is focused on recovery – this means that if babies and toddlers fall in the water they know how to get out. At Little Heroes we teach water safety from birth to surf, from the bathtub to the pool to the beach!
Starting infants at 4-months old, BUBSthrive teaches parents how to be relaxed and confident holding their babies in the water. Children are grouped by age and ability in small classes, and new students start at the same point progressing together as they learn the same skills. This creates a lovely, supportive environment led by highly qualified, friendly mentors so little learners have the most enjoyable experience possible.
As water safety ambassadors, Little Heroes’ BUBSthrive also supports Swim Australia’s SwimSAFER initiatives by educating parents in the ‘layers of protection’ to place around infants to reduce drowning incidences amongst under 5’s.
Created by LHSA Co-Founder and 2-time Austswim Teacher of Infants award winner, Tracey Ayton, BUBSthrive is not only the best start you can give your child to love the water but encourages you to be an informed and active part of the process.
SWIMthrive (3 to 6 years)
At Little Heroes we believe in teaching swimming for relaxation, not frustration! Our small classes – a maximum of just two students-per-mentor for Beginner swimming lessons – and a personalised approach, enable our mentors to engage each student with different activities aimed at developing their swimming skills and having fun.
At around three years, students transition to our SWIMthrive classes. Held in small groups with highly qualified, friendly instructors, we teach more than just swimming strokes, we aim to equip children with life saving skills. Placing a strong emphasis on survival and drowning prevention, our mentors personally focus on each student in a holistic, stress-free setting that builds confidence and an understanding of the water. We want kids to relax and enjoy being safer in all water environments, from the bathtub to the pool to the beach.
Students progress through our levels learning freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and Little Heroes’ famous ‘Flip Swimming’ program. This relaxed recovery stroke enables the swimmer to rest from freestyle and to be able to swim for longer. The stroke also aids in getting balance and a feel of the water.
We offer trial classes from Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm.

About the provider
Little Heroes Swim Academy
5.0 out of 5 (View 5 ratings)
Our swimming academy provides an inclusive environment where mainstream students and students with a disability learn together and from each other. We believe in giving everyone access to the same services and work hard to provide these inclusive swimming lessons for our ‘little heroes’ through a Disability Swim Program subsidised by our Mainstream Learn-To-Swim lessons. Our holistic approach to teaching focuses on relaxing students in the water, how to be safer in the water which will inevitably lead to more enjoyment in the water.
WHAT WE DO
Our swimming academy is inclusive because we believe in giving everyone access to the same services. We work hard to provide aquatic education opportunities for student with a disability through our Heroes Disability Swim Program subsidised by our Mainstream Learn-To-Swim lessons. Our disability students learn vital water safety skills alongside our mainstream students, using an individual and holistic approach that engages and encourages relaxation, fun and most of all, how to be safer in the water.
We teach more than just swimming strokes. Little Heroes provides life skills and an understanding of the water, from bathtub to pool to beach. We want everyone to enjoy being safer in and around water and we are able to tailor make programs for individuals, small groups and schools in a pool or at the beach, and roll out our existing programs for other organisations.
★ DISABILITY PROGRAM
We help families achieve things they never thought possible!
In order to keep our Disability Program accessible, students automatically enjoy reduced fees, and qualify for further subsidies through the Niclas Kesler Scholarship. Children and adults with specialised needs are also encouraged to participate in our surf programs. We provide a ‘shadow’ but do this in a way that the student feels part of the group and is not singled out.
We are also able to design programs for individuals and small groups with specialised needs. For example, we currently run an aqua aerobics class for a group of adults, in conjunction with a local service, and also learn to swim lessons for support classes at a number of high schools.
In all of our programs, but particularly those for people with specialised needs, the students, their families, and our staff, are encouraged to be courageous so that we can gain real results.
