Trial Class

Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate Dojo • North Lismore 2480

Overview

The quiet ones usually surprise you!

"My child's too shy for something like that."

We hear it most weeks. It is usually the shy ones who get the most out of it.

Karate is not a team sport. There is no bench, no being picked last, and nobody waiting on your child to perform in front of a crowd. They train alongside other kids, but they progress at their own pace, measured against their own last effort.

For a 5 to 8 year old who is still finding their feet, that is the difference between hanging back at the edge and having a go.
✅ Beginners start with beginners. No experience needed.
✅ Small junior classes, so instructors know every child by name
✅ Clear structure, so kids always know what is expected of them
✅ Encouragement over pressure, every single session

Beginner spots at Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate are limited this term.

    How it works:
Step 1 – Bring them along for a complimentary class. Watch from the side, no commitment.
Step 2 – If it clicks, move onto the 3-week trial. Six classes to properly find their feet.
Step 3 – Join the club and keep going.

Message us with your child's age and we'll tell you which class to come to.

About the provider

🥋 Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate – Make Yours an Active Life

🌟 Why Activity Matters

Regular physical activity isn’t just about fitness—it’s about feeling good inside and out. Exercise releases endorphins, the “happy chemicals” that boost mood, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem. For kids, this means more confidence, resilience, and a healthier outlook on life. For families, it’s a way to stay active together while building lifelong habits.

👦 Warriors (5–8 years)

This program builds on the skills learned in Mini Rangers and introduces children to karate in a fun, supportive environment. Kids learn not only martial arts techniques but also how to deal with bullying, make healthy choices, and grow in confidence. It’s about giving them the tools to feel safe, strong, and proud of who they are.

👩‍🎓 Juniors & Adults (9+ years)

As students progress, they refine their karate skills and deepen their understanding of Shukokai Karate. Lessons focus on discipline, respect, and resilience, helping students of all ages develop both physical ability and mental strength.

🌟 About Us

Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate is rooted in the Shito-Ryu style, a tradition that dates back to Japan. We are dedicated to keeping this heritage alive while adapting it for modern families. Our mission is to help students cope with everyday stresses, build confidence, and solve problems without resorting to fighting. Every class is designed to nurture character, respect, and resilience.

💖 Why Families Love Us

Parents appreciate the balance of tradition and modern teaching, where children learn discipline and respect while having fun. Kids love the excitement of karate, the friendships they make, and the pride of achieving new skills. Northern Rivers Shukokai Karate is more than a martial arts school—it’s a place where families grow stronger together.
